Therapist in Naples, Florida

Experience Matters. So Does Feeling Understood.

I’m Janessa Borges, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and founder of Naples Oceanside Wellness. I bring more than 23 years of clinical experience, a graduate degree from New York University, and nearly a decade serving the Naples community to my work with individuals, couples, and adolescents.

I’m licensed in Florida and New Jersey. I offer private-pay psychotherapy in person in Naples and secure online therapy to eligible clients physically located in either state at the time of their sessions.

Credentials matter. So does the person sitting across from you. I want you to feel comfortable having an honest conversation about your life, including the parts that are difficult to explain or don’t fit neatly into the picture everyone else sees.

A Perspective Shaped by More Than My Education

I’m a first-generation Cuban American, raised in Miami. I understand how closely family, culture, ambition, and responsibility can become intertwined. The expectations we inherit can shape how we define success, care for others, express our needs, and decide what we’re allowed to want.

Sometimes growth means learning to set boundaries without letting guilt make every decision. Sometimes it means questioning familiar patterns while still honoring the people and experiences that shaped you. I bring an appreciation for those complexities into our work, without assuming that your story is the same as mine.

I’m also a mom and an entrepreneur who has built private practices in New Jersey and Florida. I know that being capable doesn’t make the demands of parenting, leadership, or business ownership simple. That perspective helps me understand the person behind the responsibilities, whether we’re discussing your relationship, your family, or the emotional weight of your professional life.

Clinical Experience, With a Practical Understanding of Life

My experience includes over a decade working in schools. Working with young people and families has given me an appreciation for the ways academic expectations, friendships, confidence, and growing independence affect adolescents and their parents.

In private practice, I help adults navigate anxiety, stress, burnout, boundaries, relationships, and significant life transitions. My work with couples focuses on communication, connection, recurring patterns, and the ways a relationship can evolve as life changes.

I also work with high-achieving women, women entrepreneurs, and executive couples. Success can bring opportunities and fulfillment alongside pressure, uncertainty, and questions about identity. You don’t have to wait until something falls apart to give those questions your attention.

What Working With Me Feels Like

My approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and practical. I draw on cognitive behavioral therapy, relational perspectives, and strengths-based approaches, tailoring our work to your circumstances and goals.

We’ll consider how your experiences and relationships have shaped the way you think, respond, and make decisions. We’ll also look at what you can do differently: how to communicate what you need, approach a difficult conversation, recognize a familiar pattern, or make a choice with greater clarity.

I bring warmth and curiosity to those conversations, along with a willingness to ask questions that may challenge you. You deserve to feel respected and understood while having room to consider another perspective. My role isn’t to make your decisions for you. It’s to help you understand yourself and your options more clearly.

Writing, Speaking, and a Commitment to Healthy Relationships

I’m the author of GLOW: Establish Boundaries, Build Confidence & Attract Healthy Relationships. My speaking experience includes Harvard University, and my broader educational work has included the Latinas Empowering Latinas podcast and community.

Across these different settings, I care about helping people understand the expectations they carry, build self-trust, and create healthier relationships. My coaching and educational work are separate from the clinical psychotherapy I provide through Naples Oceanside Wellness.
